Proxy Access to Stanford-Restricted Sources
Check Proxy Access
To check that your browser sends you through the proxy server:
- Log out of PC-Leland or MacLeland if you are logged in.
- Connect to this URL:
-
http://www.jstor.org/journals/08967148.html
You should be prompted for your SUNet ID and password and, once you have authenticated and continued through
any intermediate pages, you should see the initial page for
the journal American Literary History available through JSTOR.
-
On the initial JSTOR page click the link that says Search this journal.
If you are being directed properly through the proxy server, you will see a search form with a note
in the upper right-hand corner that says "Your access to JSTOR is provided by
Stanford University Libraries".
If proxying is not working correctly, you will see a message denying you access:
-
We're sorry. You do not have access to JSTOR from your current location.
Double check your proxy settings.
Note that some users report Internet Explorer 6 does not work correctly through their DSL or cable modem connections,
but that other browsers do. See the
section on Browser & ISP Problems in the APC Proxy FAQ for more information.
