Altmetrics and Other Products from Digital Science
1:30-3:00 PM in Social Sciences Resource Center, Green Library

This presentation for library staff will provide an overview of what Altmetric LLP is, what kind of alternative metrics we produce, how we produce them, who we partner with, and what tools we have for individuals and institutions. This presentation is appropriate for anyone interested in altmetrics and attendees need not have previous knowledge/experience with altmetrics.

Wading Through the World of Metrics
3:15-4:15 PM, Location: Braun Lecture Hall

This presentation for library users will provide an overview of how traditional metrics and altmetrics can be used together and complement one another to give you the most robust view of research output.  Staff are welcome to attend too.  They will review traditional metrics — best practices in using them which include such tools as:

ORCID: Connecting Research & Researchers
Calculating an H-index in Scopus, Web of Science and Google Scholar
Journal metrics such as impact factor, SNIP & SciMago

Along with a closer look at what altmetrics are and how they fit into the research landscape of today.

While no advance preparation for these sessions is required, if you want to learn more about article level metrics, please see NISO Altimetrics Standards Project White Paper and Researcher/article metrics in the library guide on Sci-Tech: Scholarly Publishing
