Branner Library welcomes Andria Olson, Assistant Map Librarian
Please join me in welcoming the newest addition to the Branner Earth Sciences Library and Map Collections family, Andria Olson. Andria will join us on October 1st as the Assistant Map Librarian. Andria graduated from the Defense Language Institute with a specialization in Persian-Farsi. She received her BA in Art History from Arizona State University and will complete her Library & Information Science Master's in Historical Materials from Syracuse University in December 2018. Andria has been employed as a Library Information Specialist at the Ronald Greeley Center for Planetary Studies at ASU for the past year. She led a large-scale digitization project for the NASA Archives that required she develop a cataloging scheme to accurately identify the materials held. In one year she scanned and assigned accurate metadata to over 2,000 images and completed 10 regional packages for submission to a NASA committee for final review.
Prior to her time at NASA, Andria worked as a Reference Librarian Associate at Grand Canyon University and a Digital Asset Management Intern at the Phoenix Art Museum. Andria served in the US Army for 6 years where she worked on over 70 reports in the fields of intelligence and products.
Andria's primary work space will be in the mezzanine map library at Branner but expect to see her at the Stanford Geospatial Center and the David Rumsey Map Center as well. Welcome, Andria!
