Kanopy, one of the most robust streaming platforms for libraries and universities, contains nearly 300 Asian and Asian studies-related titles, including films by directors such as Akira Kurosawa, Wong Kar-wai, and Park Chan-wook, and documentaries on a variety of subjects.  View the full list of Asian studies-related titles here.

Stanford Libraries has recently modified its access to the Kanopy service, moving to a subscription-based access model.  Under this model, which includes access to the collections of films from distributors such as Janus Films (the Criterion Collection) and Kino International, we offer streaming access to a number of films and documentaries that may be of interest to students and faculty working in areas related to Asian studies.  Available films include such classics of Asian cinema as Akira Kurosawa's Rashōmon and The Seven Samurai and Wong Kar-wai's In the Mood for Love, and more recent films such as Park Chan-wook's Oldboy and Jia Zhangke's A Touch of Sin.  Stanford Libraries' subscription also includes a variety of documentary films spanning a broad range of topics and interests.  All titles are discoverable through Searchworks as well as through the search function in the Kanopy platform.

Faculty members who are interested in requesting additional Asian studies-related titles to stream for instructional use that are not currently included in Stanford's Kanopy subscription can contact Josh Capitanio at the East Asia Library.
