SDR Deposit of the Week: 2014 Engineering Honors Theses

2014 Honors theses written by undergraduates in Engineering were self-deposited by the authors for the first time this year. Stanford Electrical Engineering and BioEngineering students were quick off the mark to get their draft deposits ready for final check and inclusion in the SDR archive.  2014 research topics range from Deer Antler Genetics to Thermionic Emitters.

Oalla digital signage continues to innovate within the Stanford University Libraries.  Since Ronnie Fields of the Stanford Green Library last posted on the topic, the Stanford Terman Engineering Library has been testing new Oalla apps created specifically for use with iPads, Android tablets and large touch screen monitors.

FINData logoNeed financial, corporate or macro-economic data? Use the new research tool created by the GSB Library after consultation with the School of Business faculty and PhD students. FINData is a financial and economic data discovery tool designed to help researchers quickly locate data within business and economic information sources available from the GSB library and other sources. FINData is organized into four broad areas — Company Financials, Financial Markets, Corporate Governance and Economic Indicators — but can be searched across categories using the search box.

The Stanford University Libraries are providing a four month trial of the online version of Scientific Style and Format, the most recognized, authoritative reference for authors, editors, publishers, students, and translators in all areas of science and related fields. Authored by the Council of Science Editors (CSE) and published by the University of Chicago Press, the eighth edition has been fully revised and updated to reflect recent changes in language relating to the perpetually evolving electronic and online environments. New to this edition are guidelines and examples for citing online images and information graphics, podcasts and webcasts, online videos, blogs, social networking sites, and e-books.
