Stanford University Libraries is pleased to introduce Opening Night! Opera & Oratorio Premieres, a cross-index of data for over 38,000 opera and oratorio premieres. It allows complex searches across multiple categories or simple browsing within any single category, such as genre, composer, librettist, premiere date, country, oratorio subject, or theater. The database is linked to SearchWorks, Stanford University Libraries catalog, allowing users to easily find related scores, recordings, and writings.
Back in the 1980s, five libraries -- including Stanford's -- undertook an effort to provide better user access to their sound recording collections. The result of this effort was a union catalog of pre-LP disc holdings that made it possible for users to find out what each of the five institutions actually owned.
The University Archives was pleased once again to participate in professor Bob Siegel's sophomore college class, "The Stanford Safari." Students learned about the purpose and scope of the Archives' operations and viewed select items from the University's history (yes, that's Leland Stanford's death mask).
In June and July, approximately 30,000, images representing nearly 14,000 items were accessioned into the Stanford Digital Repository (SDR). These materials include about 12,000 images from the Revs collection, 128 additional books from the Stephen J Gould collection, 43 Inspector General semiannual reports to congress, and a particularly prized volume of the Talmud.

Updated daily, Current Contents Connect is a multidisciplinary current awareness web resource providing access to complete bibliographic information of the world's leading scholarly journals. It provides complete tables of contents and bibliographic information, including abstracts, from about 8,000 journals, 2,000 books, and 7,000 scholarly web sites. It includes pre-published electronic journal articles and links to the full text. Database coverage: 1998 to the present.
