An enormous and significant image collection of photographs, reproductions and cuttings of paintings, drawings, and engravings of primarily Western art dating from 1200 to 1992, acquired by the Courtauld Institute of Art, a major center for the study of the history of art at the University of London. Contains 1.6 million images by approximately 75,000 artists. The contents of this microfiche collection are organized alphabetically by national school (e.g., American, British, French, German, South and North African Schools, etc.). Within each school, artists are classified alphabetically by last name. A paper index to the microfiche collection is located on top of the filing cabinets housing the collection.
