Reference
Reference is offered equally to Stanford faculty, staff, and students
from any department on campus, as well as to onsite UC faculty and students,
and members of the USGS. Limited reference service is also available to
librarians from other libraries. Visitors are welcome to use the collections;
reference help is available only for users of the depository materials.
Use of ESRI products, Petroleum Abstracts, Crossfire, and Chemical Abstracts
is limited to current Stanford faculty, staff, and students only.
Library staff are available during reference
hours to provide help with library research, instruct patrons
on the use of the library, to aid in refining database searches,
or to assist in finding and accessing information not owned by the
library. Tours of the library, group instruction, and specialized
training in earth sciences, maps, or GIS information sources can
also be arranged by inquiring at the library. The Reference staff
can be contacted by email.

Reference Hours
Map, Book, and Journal Collection: Monday-Friday, 11am-5pm. During
Summer Quarter, reference service is available Monday-Friday, 1pm-5pm and
during intersessions from 1pm-3pm. GIS: Monday-Friday, 2-5pm,
during Academic Quarters and 2pm-4pm during intersessions.
