GIS Workshops: Introduction to ArcGIS
Description: This workshop is designed to give a basic understanding of ArcGIS to new users. This a 3-hour workshop with the majority of its exercises being hands-on. Topics covered include GIS data formats, basic database management, projections, ArcCatalog, ArcMap, Tools for spatial analysis and basic cartography principles. This workshop is mandatory if students want to use Branner's ArcGIS free one-on-one consulting services.

What's new with GeoRef
Description: Learn about using GeoRef to search international geoscience literature, covering engineering and environmental geology, hydrology, and paleontology. Also learn to automatically send citations to your email address. Bring examples and questions you'd like to have addressed.

Mendeley Basics: Your Citation Manager and Academic Social Network
Description: Organize your research with Mendeley! The open source Mendeley software allows you to create a database of "full text" papers with citation information that is easy to retrieve and use in new documents. Topics will include an introduction to Mendeley, and how to organize, tag, annotate, and share your PDFs.

Using Web of Science to find Journal Citation Reports
Description: This workshop will teach about the use of Web of Science Journal Citation Reports, a multidisciplinary research tool that allows you to discover high-impact journals. Use this resource for tracking who has cited a paper, which journals are cited most quickly, and to identify journals relevant to a particular area of research.

Advanced Google Workshop – Using GoogleDocs
Description: How do you use Google to help organize your personal and professional work? This class will focus on creating and using GoogleDocs – such as creating spreadsheets with 50 simultaneous editors, creating online polls, and publishing slideshows online. Participants will sign up for a Google account (if they don’t already have one).
