Native American Arts Alliance and Indigenous Arts Action Alliance Records.
Gift of Nancy Marie Mithlo.
This collection consists of exhibit files, correspondence, publications, photographs, video, cassette tapes, and posters centered on Native American self-representation through the fine and performing arts. Of particular importance are the papers relating to the group's exhibits at the Venice Biennale ("Ceremonial" in 1999, "Umbilicus" in 2001, and "Pellerossasogna The Shirt" in 2003). The Native American Arts Alliance was formed in 1997 to address the growing distance between contemporary native arts production and its relevance to native communities.
