Map collection, 1858-1920.
Gift of L .W. "Bill" Lane, Jr.
A collection of 302 large-scale maps depicting communities and existing or proposed Southern Pacific railway right-of-ways and real estate holdings in California and the western United States, including Oregon and Nevada. These maps expand Stanford's existing manuscript collections of the Pacific Improvement Company and the Southern Pacific Railroad Company, and provide an important representation of Leland Stanford's business interests.
