Introduction

Opera Vergiliana.

[Lyon]: Impressa per Iacobum -Mareschal, anno Domini 1512 quinto nonas Martias.
Acquired through the Fitger-Williams Fund.

This is a very rare edition of Virgil, not found in any of the standard bibliographical references. The printer, Jacques Mareschal (fl. 1510-1532), issued a small number of items for the Lyons publisher Simon Vincent (fl. 1504-1534). This copy features early ownership inscriptions on the title page and final leaf, and extensive interlinear annotations in a Renaissance hand.
