Introduction

The Xu xiu si ku quan shu
(Continuation to the Si Ku Quan Shu [The Complete Collection in Four Treasuries]).
5,213 titles in 1,800 vols.

Shanghai: Shanghai guji chubanshe [Shanghai Ancient Books Press],
1995-2002.

Gift of Huang Mulong.

An important publishing project from the China Press and Publications Administration, this anthology was compiled by Gu Tinglong and other scholars and experts. Initiated in China in 1994 and completed in 2002, this massive collection contains 5,213 titles, which originally appeared during the Qing dynasty after the Si Ku Quan Shu was compiled in the 1760s. The texts date from this period until 1911. The collection comprises four traditional divisions of jing (classics), shi (histories), zi (philosophies) and ji (literature).
