Introduction

Hagadah.

Brooklyn, NY: Printed by Raphael Foddé, 2003.

Acquired through the Jeannette M. and Salo W. Baron Book and
the Robert L. Goldman Funds.

Raphael Foddé prints fine editions of poetry and avant-garde literature from Italy, France and Portugal, as well as classic Biblical and Jewish texts. The linoleum cuts in this volume are by the artist Ben Simon. In a naïve style, they evoke the warm and intimate mood of the Seder, the festive meal at which the Hagadah is recited each Passover. This Hagadah, which is dated Iyar 5753 (May 2003), includes an English translation by Sara Reguer. Fifty copies were printed on Hahnemuhle paper, and Stanford has copy number eleven, signed by the artist.
