Introduction

Mexican Folkways.

A very rare and complete run of an artistic Mexico City magazine from 1925-1937. This was a bi-lingual, Spanish and English, publication created, edited and published by U.S. anthropologist Frances Toor. Under Diego Rivera, who became the magazine's art editor in 1926, coverage of the arts expanded to include the work of contemporary artists working in Mexico, such as José Clemente Orozco, Edward Weston and Tina Modotti. The magazine provided a venue for the artistic movement in Mexico to reach an English-speaking audience.
