This microfiche set contains the first two parts of the Beethoven Collection of Music Manuscripts from the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin, Preusßischer Kulturbesitz, which is probably the most important collection of its kind. When completed the set will contain approximately 14,600 pages of Beethoven's autographs and manuscripts containing autograph passages, as well as 13,500 pages of other manuscripts of Beethoven's music. Also included will be one hundred works that were moved during World War II for safekeeping, which are currently at the Biblioteka Jagiello´nska, Krakow. These include many of his greatest works, most of his symphonies and piano concertos, the Missa Solemnis and Fidelio, and some of his chamber music.
