Course Reserves
Course Reserves are books and other items in high demand because they
are needed for a course. At the request of the instructor, the library
places these items behind the circulation desk and they have a limited
circulation period.
Checking out reserve materials: Consult the online
Reserves Catalog to identify items on reserve. Present your current ID
to use materials. Most reserve materials circulate for two hours;
note carefully the expected return time when checking out reserves.
They may be checked out overnight one hour before the library closes
and returned within the first hour after opening on the following
day. Please return reserve materials directly to the Circulation
Desk. Because ready and equal access to reserve materials is critical
to the academic enterprise, stiff fines are assessed for tardy responses
to items recalled for reserves and for reserve items kept beyond
their loan period. We require your prompt action in helping make
reserve items available to your colleagues.
Submitting Reserves
Please submit your course reserve requests to
englibrary@stanford.edu. You can also fax requests to 725-1096, or bring requests
to the library in person.
Submit your course reserve list at least FOUR WEEKS in advance of the
first class meeting. Submit no more than 3 copies of journal articles.
The default loan period is 2 hours.
