ArcInfo Installation Instructions
* First install Desktop
ArcInfo and then Workstation
ArcInfo.

1. Remove any previous versions of
ArcInfo: Desktop, Workstation, and Data. Delete the contents of
the 'C:\arcgis' folder.
2. Make sure you meet all system
requirements for both Desktop and Workstation.
3. Double click to unzip 'arcgis9.zip',
and extract the files to a new directory.
4. Unzip Desktop.zip and run the
'Setup.exe' application.
5. On the first screen click 'Next'.
Read and accept the license agreement and click 'Next' again.
Note: If the setup program prompts,
update Microsoft system files and allow the setup program to
reboot
your system. Remember to login using the same username and
password as before. If the installer doesn't start up automatically,
run "Setup.exe" again.
6. Select 'Browse for License Manager
on the network' and hit 'Next'.
7. Enter 'pangea.stanford.edu' and
hit 'Next'.
8. Choose to install ArcInfo and
hit "Next".
9. Choose either:
- "Complete" installation type -
Installs all extensions and programming capabilities.
- "Custom" installation type -
Chooses which applications and extensions to
install.
(Note: It isn't possible to install extensions later, and
the
"Typical" installation doesn't include extensions.)
10. Accept the default installation directory
by clicking 'Next'.
11. Click 'Next' again
to begin the installation.
12. If you have the CDs from Branner
Library, you may now install any additional components (ArcGIS
Tutorial Data, Desktop Developer Kit, and Crystal
Reports) by checking their respective boxes,
clicking 'OK',
and following the prompts.
13. You will be prompted to reboot.
Indicate you wish to restart manually at a later time (i.e.
after you have finished installing software).
14. You must now install ArcInfo
Workstation.

1. First, install
ArcInfo Desktop.
2. Return to the directory to which
you originally unzipped arcgis9.zip, and unzip Workstation.zip.
3. Double
click on file "SetupWorkstation.exe" within the
newly unzipped directory structure.
4. Click 'Next', read and
accept the license agreement and click 'Next' again.
5. Choose:
- "Complete" installation type -
Installs all extensions and programming capabilities.
- "Custom" installation type - Chooses
which applications, extensions, or developer kit features to
install.
6. Accept the default install directory
by clicking 'Next'.
7. Select a workspace
directory and click 'Next', then click 'Finish'.
8. Reboot your computer now to complete
the installation.
Note: ArcGIS 9.2 Service Pack 3 at the ESRI website is available. This pack will improve performance and contains maintenance fixes. Please install at your earliest convenience.
