Early English Newspapers

The Collection

Location: Green Library, Media-Microtexts

Call Number: MFILM N.S. 2179.

Content: Microfilm copies of 634 separate titles of 17th and 18th-century British newspapers, the combined collections of Dr. Charles Burney, owned by the British Library, and John Nicholls, from the Bodleian Library in Oxford. A significant record of the social, intellectual, and political history of Britain as well as a unique record of the development of the newspaper press.

Access: Individual titles are not in Socrates. Staff in Media-Microtexts will retrieve material from the collection if you specify "MFILM N.S. 2179" and provide an item's reel number from Early English Newspapers : Bibliography and Guide to the Microfilm Collection, a copy of which is located in Media-Microtexts, Z6956.G6R47 1983.
