Duties & Responsibilities: Assists primarily
with processing sound recordings and print materials, including
sorting, organizing,
weeding, cleaning,
and shelving audio and video recordings and maintaining acquisitions
and processing statistics. Assists occasionally with database
inputting; electronic serials check-in; audio playback, monitoring,
and recording; photocopying, patron reception, and other duties
as assigned.

Be on time; if you expect to be late notify supervisor by phone
or email. Be neat and clean in appearance. Be productive and work
efficiently. Maintain a professional atmosphere. When addressing
the public be friendly and helpful. Maintain a positive and respectful
work relationship with staff and co-workers. Report to supervisor
damage or hazards to recordings and archival collections.
Notify supervisor ahead of your scheduled shift if you are unable
to work, and arrange to make up hours missed. Plan ahead to work
extra hours to make up time missed during dead week and exam week.
Notify supervisor, by email, before the end of each quarter of
your desire to return to work the following quarter and specify
the number of hours you expect to work. Failure to do so could
result in termination. Notify supervisor two weeks in advance of
plans
to terminate employment.
Qualifications: Must type at least 55 wpm and be proficient with
MS Word and Excel. Ability
to perform detailed work accurately required. A music background
and familiarity with database management and audio editing software
programs such as FileMaker Pro, Sony Sound Forge and CD Architect,
and Wave Lab are helpful but not required. Must be able to
lift boxes up to 35 pounds.
Hours: 6-10 hours/week, scheduled Monday-Friday,
8 am- 5 pm.
