Unfigured bass part for operas and comédie-ballets by Lully; contains some lesser-known works for which the music is either lost or unpublished.
" The identification of some pieces in the manuscript is rather uncertain, and the dates (added later) often incorrect. 'La Masquerade Royalle [en 1668]' may relate to the 'Mascarade du Capitaine" LSV 24, first performed at the Palais Royale in 1664 ... The overture accords with that in 'Le Carnaval ou Mascarade de Versailles' LWV 36 of 1668, but the other numbers are different. On the other hand, some numbers appear similar to those in 'Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme' (LWV 43) of 1670, albeit with different titles"--Dealer's description.

After the painting by M. de Vos. Original engraver Johannes Sadeler. This is the second state, a reverse of Sadeler, signed by Visscher.
This engraving is one of the earliest examples of engraved music. The music is displayed on two carrelle, or erasable slate tablets, on which composers of the era composed their music.
Text at base of engraving: "Coelicolum regi meritas depromite laudes namq[ue] pia dominum venerari lude decorum est : Psal. 147."
Representation of the Magnificat, with the Virgin Mary in the center surrounded by 6 angels. Two angels are holding slate tablets with the complete five-voice setting of Cornelis Verdonck's Magnificat (altus & bassus part on left tablet; superius & tenor canon. in diapason on right tablet); these two angels are singing from the parts, while the other 4 angels are playing their parts on musical instruments (viols, flute, cornetto).
