Finding Aids by Collection Number

Special Collections and University Archives has converted the finding aids to its Manuscripts collections and a significant percentage of the finding aids to the University Archives holdings to an electronic format and publishes them on the Internet using EAD (Encoded Archival Description), an SGML / XML mark-up language.

Stanford serves these documents directly from its server in an XML format. To view the XML properly patrons must use Microsoft's Internet Explorer version 6.0 or greater. Stanford is continuing to develop alternative delivery methods for making its finding aids available across all platforms and software configurations.

Please note that Stanford is participating with the University of California and 60 other California-based repositories in the Online Archives of California to serve these guides as html.

If your browser cannot view XML files, simply follow the [html] link next to the listing for the guide which you wish to view from one of the three lists below and you will be taken automatically to the html version of the guide being served by the Online Archives of California server.

In addition, Stanford patrons can view and navigate our guides through the Research Library Group's (RLG) Archival Resources service. This service also allows our patrons to search for archival materials from collections from across the United States.
