Falconer Biology Library
Computers and equipment
Falconer Biology Library offers three cluster machines and six public kiosks. The three cluster machines are iMacs that are available to users with SUNet access. The iMacs have both Mac and Windows interfaces. The six public kiosks are Windows machines, which are available to all users. Users without SUNet access will have limited access to certain applications and subscription-based online resources. All computers have DVD/CD players and USB ports.
Wireless network access is available throughout the library. For information about setting up your device for wireless access at Stanford, see IT Services Wireless Network and Services.
All computers are connected to a color laser printer. Printing is 10¢ per page. Payment for printing can only be accepted using a Stanford ID Card or a copy card. If using a copy card, you will need to swipe your card at the print release station. For printing help, please see library staff or contact Academic Computing Services.
Two self-service black and white photocopiers are available. Photocopying is 13¢ per page with a copy card or 15¢ per page with coins/bills. Both copiers accept Stanford ID cards and copy cards. One of the copiers accept coins, $1 and $5 bills.
The library has two scanners. The extra large format scanner is connected to one of the iMac cluster computers. The other scanner is connected to one of the public kiosks. Scanning is free.
How to pay for printing and photocopying
Students may enroll in the Stanford Card Plan and use a Stanford ID card as a debit card for printing or photocopying. Faculty and staff can add value to a Stanford ID card at a cash-to-card machine. Visitors may purchase a copy/print card at any cash-to-card machine for $1. Additional funds need to be added for print/photocopying use. The nearest cash-to-card machine location is Swain Library.
For more information on printing, copying, and scanning, see Stanford Libraries Print, Copy, Scan page.
