Please join us for Concierge 38: “Common Library Copyright Issues and How to Respond”

In advance of the release of the 2017 Copyright Reminder, Mimi Calter will review many of the copyright scenarios that that document addresses. We’ll talk about library procedures and policies related to copyright, review some basics of copyright law, and talk about working with patrons on copyright issues. Bring your questions! Please sign up for one of the sessions on Canvas. First, enroll in the Concierge Project's Canvas “course” if you haven’t done so yet. Then sign up for a session in Canvas under the People > Groups tab.

"Stanford faculty and librarians are working together to modify the curriculum of large undergraduate courses to bring more students to the special collections and archives of the libraries on campus.

A new partnership between Stanford faculty and librarians is giving more undergraduate students hands-on opportunities to work with historical documents and artifacts during class, simulating what professional historians do in the real world.

All SUL Staff are invited to an Open House at the newly-opened 500 Broadway offices in Redwood City from 12:00-1:30 on January 26th.  Lunch will be served. 

Please take this opportunity to see the new spaces that Stanford University Press, Conservation Services, the Stanford Media Preservation Lab, and the Technical Services branch of Special Collections now call home, and learn about what they do.  And take some time to orient yourself before the full Redwood Citly campus is opened in 2018. 

 

Lathrop Cupboard Cafe dining area

I'm thrilled to announce that the Lathrop Cupboard Cafe will be open for breakfast and lunch beginning on January 9th.  Initial opening hours will be from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM, and the menu will be limited for the first week.  Both the hours and the menu will expand as the team gets up to full staff.
