Joshua Capitanio joined the East Asia Library as Public Services Librarian. In addition to coordinating public service activities, he is responsible for collecting Western languages publications on East Asian. Josh earned his M.A. degree in Chinese from the University of California, Los Angeles, and Ph.D. in East Asian Languages and Civilizations from the University of Pennsylvania.
Prior to joining SUL, he was an associate professor in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of the West. He also taught courses at California State University, Long Beach, and San Francisco State University. With knowledge in several languages including modern and classical Chinese, Tibetan, French, Japanese, and Sanskrit, Josh has been actively publishing in the history of Chinese religions.
