After 37 years of service, Irene Jones has retired from Stanford University Libraries.

Fluent in Russian, Ukrainian, and German, she served as a German translator during the latter years of living in a refugee camp in Austria from 1945-1952. Her language skills were invaluable when Irene began work at the Hoover Institution as a 50%FTE Library Specialist, specializing in Slavic Serials. Her responsibilities included working with a few hundred titles published in Russian, Polish, Ukrainian, Czechoslovakian, Bulgarian, Belarusian, and Yugoslavian/Serbo-Croatian.

Gary Principal has been an integral part of the Stanford University Libraries for the last 32 years - all of them in the same position as Shipper/Receiver in the mail room. He retires this week.  As an important contributor to these processes, his influences helping to keep mail room operations flowing will always be valued and remembered.  Gary’s hard work, commitment, and dedication will be greatly missed.

On behalf of everyone in SUL Facilities, we would like to wish Gary the best of luck!

After 4 years managing SUL's Business Services unit, Regina Islas is moving on to new adventures.  Her last day with SUL will be September 19th.

In her time with us, Regina has made great strides in refining SUL's purchasing procedures, and ensuring that those procedures are available to all.  The SBS Consul site, which she initiated, is a great example of this, and she has also met with many of you personally to review those processes.
