GIS Day 2014 - Branner Earth Sciences Library

Please join us in our annual celebration of GIS Day at Stanford University for an interactive showcase of cutting-edge research using Geographic Information Systems and geospatial technologies.

The event will include a series of lightning talks featuring Stanford faculty and staff, GIS research, student demonstrations of current GIS projects, and a “Where in the World” contest. Drinks and snacks will be provided.

Stanford IT services is now providing a video conferencing solution for the entire university--for free! Stanford has partnered with Blue Jeans to offer this service. Many in the Stanford community have become very familiar with using Skype and Google Hangouts. These tools have a number of limitations and Blue Jeans is, by far, a much better video conferencing service compared with these competitors.

The Genetics Society of America (GSA) announced today that it is partnering with Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) Press to assist authors in submitting unpublished manuscripts to bioRxiv, a fast-growing preprint server for the life sciences.
