Open House showcasing recent acquisitions in medieval and early modern manuscripts and printed books

Printed initial from the 1501 Etymologiae

If you would like to take a look at some recent acquisitions in the medieval and early modern manuscripts and printed books, please stop by the Barchas Room in Special Collections on Friday, September 30th, 2016, for an Open House between 11:00am-2:00pm.

On display will be a number of fascinating works, including this 1501 edition of Isidore of Seville's Etymologiae, the hugely-influential medieval encyclopedia that preserved fragments of many classical works otherwise lost to us.

This copy has extensive contemporary marginalia and an interesting variant of the "T-O" medieval world map.
