University librarian Michael Keller will fill the position of vice provost for teaching and learning on an interim basis as John Mitchell steps down at the end of Winter Quarter.
 

Stanford University Libraries has been piloting 3-D scanning technology to make materials including animal bones, archaeological artifacts and other objects more readily accessible to scholars on campus and across the world.
 
A new collaborative effort at Stanford Libraries to capture 3-D models of artifacts helps scholars and students with analyzing and studying objects remotely.

Zhaohui Xue, Chinese Studies Librarian at Stanford’s East Asia Library, discovered some particularly rare materials within the library's collections while assisting a Bay Area professor conducting research into a Shanghai newspaper entitled Minli bao, the official publication of the Chinese Revolutionary Alliance.
