On Nov. 20 Alissa Hafele joins the Metadata Department as our new E-resources Metadata Librarian, succeeding Shelley Doljack in that position. Alissa will be responsible for providing bibliographic access to the many e-resource packages that SUL purchases or subscribes to. She will also be involved in the ongoing maintenance and development of SearchWorks, serving as "data analyst" for the SearchWorks team, and responding to SearchWorks feedback.

Stanford University's HighWire Press is pleased to announce an expansion of their partnership with JBJS, Inc., with the migration of the growing suite of JBJS titles to the HighWire Open Platform.
By mid-2014, The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery, JBJS Case Connector, JBJS Essential Surgical Techniques, and the JBJS Archive, will sit alongside JBJS Reviews, their forthcoming journal on the HighWire platform. The highly regarded orthopaedic journals will have integrated CME and will include new designs utilizing HighWire's flexible Drupal architecture in an easy-to-read format optimized for tablet, mobile, and online usage.

Stanford University Libraries announced the launch of the second Stanford Prize for Innovation in Research Libraries (SPIRL), a prize to recognize and celebrate innovation through programs, projects, and/or new or improved services that directly or indirectly benefit readers and users. The goal of the prize is to single out for community attention and to celebrate functionally significant results of the innovative impulses in libraries anywhere in the world that support research.
