Utilizing SpringShare’s LibGuides platform, the APUS CampusGuides Program Portals’ mission is to create companion websites that function as research portals for each school, program, and course offered by the university system – which consists of two fully online institutions: American Military University and American Public University. Biblioteca Virtual Miguel de Cervantes
Service oriented platform for the management of metadata and content in digital libraries.
Based at the Universidad de Alicante, the BVMC publishes high-quality content, such as its own full-text critical editions, which can be used by the global research community. The Bbiblioteca meets the new challenges of digital libraries with a more open, user-oriented design guided by service-oriented architecture and relying on open-source development. Projects: Gallica Library and Discovery Service
The Gallica Library promotes French cultural heritage in a digital form, addressing the needs of contemporary scholars as well as a much wider public in a rapidly evolving and highly competitive environment. The discovery service of the BnF, data.bnf.fr, has integrated numerous BnF catalogues and finding aids using a Semantic Web approach thereby making the vast holdings of the BnF, including those of Gallica, visible through a single, high-tech lens. Together, both efforts drive a wider audience to the digital BnF from search engines. Project Submission.

Research Hub addresses the need for a single, comprehensive view of a university’s research output. It serves an ambitiously wide audience, including international researchers looking for datasets, research students looking for supervisors, industry looking for consultants and their expertise, and journalists looking for expert sources. Project: Heritage Science for Conservation
The HSC program recognizes the increasing need for collaborative interdisciplinary research emphasizing scientific inquiries relevant to paper-based materials in libraries, archives, and cultural heritage organizations. Project Submission.
Lister Hill National Center for Biomedical Communications
The Open-i project aims to provide next generation information retrieval services for biomedical articles from the full text collections such as PubMed Central. It is unique in its ability to index both the text and images in the articles. The article retrieval is powered by Essie (the search engine that supports ClinicalTrials.gov). Project Submission.

Project: Taiwan e-Learning and Digital Archives Program
TELDAP unites the strengths of Taiwan's academic research in various disciplines through innovative information technology, and extends it toward research and public education by building a national digital archive and e-learning infrastructure on an unprecedented scale. Project Submission.
National Defense University Library
Project: Technology Petting Zoo
When the National Defense University stopped issuing laptops to incoming students, librarians implemented a series of technology petting zoo events to inform patrons about availability of the Library’s resources on personal computing devices. The team overcame technology and security issues inherent in the NDU computing environment, and used the event to connect patrons directly with the Library’s downloadable electronic resources via a variety of computing devices. Through the petting zoo experience, the staff acquired knowledge and experience to better serve patrons with inquiries about online and downloadable materials. Project Submission.

Project: Shared Libraries
The Shared Libraries program is NITLE’s recent and developing attempt to provide the small liberal arts colleges in its network access to the world class digital resources available to larger, better resourced research libraries. NITLE’s Shared Libraries aims to help small colleges join together to meet the collective needs of their faculty and students. Project Submission.

Project: New York Public Library Labs
NYPL Labs is an experimental design and technology unit creating interactive experiences around research library collections and data. Based at NYPL's flagship branch on 42nd Street, Labs operates as an in-house startup, working closely with curators to develop projects that push the envelope of library practice, engage new audiences through user collaboration and crowdsourcing, and accelerate the flow of cultural heritage content, data and code into the digital commons. Project: Health Information Ambassador Program for Patient Education
The Health Information Ambassador program aims to extend the core services of the consumer health library beyond the walls to the bedside for patients and families during the hospital stay, and to continue the relationship through and after discharge. The program helps to empower the patients to be their own best advocates and to increase their sense of value and collaboration on the health care team. Project Submission.
Temple University and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst
Project: Temple University Alternate Textbook Project and the Open Education Initiative at the University of Massachusetts Amherst
The goal of the Project is to encourage faculty experimentation and innovation in finding new, better and less costly ways to deliver learning materials to their students. Through the Project faculty can receive a competitive grant to develop an alternate to the traditional textbook. That could be anything from a customized set of instructional content to an existing open textbook. There is no expectation that faculty will author complete open textbooks. Project Submission.

Project: 3D Printing
The University of Alabama (UA) Libraries operates a 3D printing studio where members of the UA community can design and create 3D plastic models. The 3D printing studio at UA Libraries provides support for 3D users by offering workshops, course training, and personal consultations which outline the technology, software, and operating procedures required to produce a 3D plastic object. University of Alabama at Birmingham
Project: Business Research Certificate Program
The program was designed and implemented to improve business information literacy within the UAB School of Business. Since then it has taken off and now draws students, faculty, and staff from all areas of campus. Project Submission.
University of Alaska Fairbanks
Project: Oral History Program
The Oral History Program collects, preserves, and provides access to audio and video recordings on Alaska's history and the people who have contributed to its heritage. It consists of over 11,000 recordings, most of which were donated by organizations and individual interviewers who collected them over the years. Oral history and Information technology staff at the Rasmuson Library have developed a new methodology for displaying interview footage and transcripts that would comply with current technology and design standards. This template-driving oral history display bundles transcripts and audio/visual files, maps and archival materials into a polished navigable media player. Project Submission.

Building on its vision of “Everywhere you are, the Library,” the University of Arizona Libraries have developed and implemented software that allows library services and resources to be pushed out to students at their point of study, in the campus course management system (CMS). Project Submission.

Project: New Service Models
Since 2007, the University of Illinois Library has engaged in an intensive and intentional program to transform library services. The New Service Models (NSM) program is designed to sustain the Illinois tradition of excellence in Library services while navigating transformations in academic libraries and scholarly communication, in a period of escalating economic challenges in Illinois and globally. By focusing on improving services, the reorganizations that occurred under the NSM program engaged library faculty, library staff, and library users in both open discussions of the library’s future and teambased planning and implementation. Project: Digital Humanities Incubator
The Digital Humanities Incubator is a program intended to help introduce University Libraries faculty, staff, and graduate assistants to digital humanities through a series of workshops, tutorials, “office hours,” and project consultations. Project Submission.

Project: Research Impact Measurement Service
The Research Impact Measurement Service (RIMS) delivers support to individuals, schools and faculties through a combination of written reports, advisory services, workshops and communications. RIMS aims to support and inform the strategic publishing practices of UNSW researchers, in order to ensure maximum exposure and visibility of their research outputs. It assists them in making informed decisions about managing their outputs and research profile, and ultimately to track the impact of those outputs using bibliometrics. This service supports individual researchers in providing evidence of their impact for grant applications; prizes and awards; and for internal promotion activities. Project Submission.

DataBank is a mainstream tool for managing valuable University of Oxford research data assets for a wide variety of users. DataBank is a key services for a) enabling the University to know and understand its research outputs and b) retain a local copy that is not at the risk of reliance on external services for access and preservation and for business intelligence, and c) retains a copy of the University’s IP within the institution. Islandora is a robust open-source digital asset management system that can be used for any requirement where collaboration and digital data stewardship, for the short and long term, are critical. Islandora integrates the Drupal content management system and the Fedora digital repository with a host of functions. Project Submission.

Project: LA as Subject
L.A. as Subject is a research alliance dedicated to preserving and improving access to the archival material of Los Angeles history. Much of the city’s history is preserved in libraries, museums, and other cultural institutions. Other valuable and unique collections – those that reveal the stories of neighborhoods, families, and influential Angelenos – are scattered across Southern California, curated by smaller institutions and individual enthusiasts. With an online directory of more than 230 separate collections, L.A. as Subject ensures that researchers know what materials are available, where they are located, and how to access them.
