An older search interface, still important for finding materials in Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and other scripts.
Socrates is Stanford Libraries' former electronic catalog. It contains all of the books and journals from Stanford's collections, but does not include all of Stanford's curated digital resources. These are visible in the current catalog, SearchWorks.
If you are searching for texts in Roman alphanumerics (e.g., French, Spanish, English), SearchWorks is your best option. But if you're searching for texts in Chinese, Japanese, Korean, or other scripts, you will need to use Socrates.
