Course Reserves
Reserve Guidelines: Print
Reserve Form: Print
Reserve lists for print material may be submitted at any time throughout
the quarter; however, those instructors needing material to be
on reserve at the beginning of the quarter should observe the due
date below. This will allow time for ordering, processing, recalling,
etc. of materials. Lists submitted during the first 3 weeks of class
will take 1 to 2 weeks to process and are handled on a first-come,
first-served basis. Please note that it takes approximately 6
weeks to order/receive a book title that is not immediately available
from the Stanford Bookstore.
All material on reserve must comply with U.S. Copyright Law.
RESERVE REQUESTS FOR ANY QUARTER ARE DUE BY THE 15thOF
THE MONTH BEFORE THAT QUARTER BEGINS.
SUBMITTING RESERVE REQUESTS
- You may submit your reserve list using the standard print form
(SUL33) or via our web form.
- Paper forms may be hand delivered to the Green Library Loan
Desk. They may also be sent to the Reserves Department through
ID mail or via FAX. Our ID mail code is 6063. Our fax number is
(650) 723-3992.
We do not accept reserve lists via email.
- Provide complete citations. Specify author, title, editor, publisher,
edition (or write "any edition okay"), version, and date as appropriate.
- Loan periods for print materials may be 2 HOURS, 1 DAY, 2 DAYS,
or 3 DAYS.
PERSONAL MATERIALS
- Personal copies of material can be put on reserve. Please bring
personal copies to the Green Library Loan Desk, with your completed
reserves list.
- These materials will receive some minimal processing (e.g. labels
and barcodes). This material will be returned to your department
at the end of the quarter, or it can be retrieved whenever you
no longer need the items on Reserve.
- Green Reserves does not secure copyright permission for anthologies;
you must obtain permission to have them placed on reserve. You
may want to take advantage of the Stanford Bookstore's course
reader service, as they can handle copyright issues for you.
EXAMS, PROBLEM SETS, LECTURE NOTES, AND ANSWER KEYS
- Exams, problem sets, lecture notes and answer keys are retained
for three years, unless otherwise requested. Please identify each
piece submitted by quarter, year, and course number.
The above procedures apply for print material needed for course reserves
at Green Library only. If you need to submit media material
for course reserves at Green Library please click here.
For further information about any of the above, contact Ajit Gellon,
