Access policies described here apply to the Stanford University Libraries. Coordinate libraries (e.g., Business, Law, Hoover, Medical) and department libraries (Classics, Philosophy) may have separate access requirements and borrowing policies; consult them directly for information about using their facilities and resources.
Fee-based library memberships
To purchase access and borrowing privileges beyond the courtesy period offered to all visitors, apply for a SUL Card in person at Privileges in Green. Applications (including fees) must be complete before privileges begin. Payments can be made by cash or check. All applications require a government-issued photo ID; borrowing privileges require presentation of a second form of identification as well, such as a university ID or a passport.
Fee-based memberships do not include off-campus access to online resources. Databases and online journals are generally accessible from SUL's public computers, though some are only available to the Stanford community. Please inquire about the availablity of specific resources.
