Enrique Juan Palacios Mendoza (1881-1953) was one of the archaeologists who shaped the institutionalization and professionalization of archeology in Mexico. "Los estudios histórico-arqueológicos de México. Su desarrollo a través de cuatro siglos" (Archaeological studies of Mexico. Its development through four centuries) are presented all together for the first time, after they were previously published in several installments between 1929 and 1930, in the Boletín de la Secretaría de Educación Pública. Written by archaeologist Enrique Juan Palacios Mendoza (1881-1953), the texts constitute a history of archaeology in Mexico that has gone unnoticed until this day. Its author described with great detail and erudition, each of the chronicles, treatises and research on the Pre-Hispanic past, either written by Indians or Spanish, by nationals or foreigners, since the 16th century, until the 19th century.
