    In 1998, for the first time ever, Japanese Americans from all over the country gathered in our nation's capitol to commemorate February 19th as a "Day of Remembrance"--56 years after President Franklin Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066 which incarcerated 120,000 people of Japanese ancestry, most of them American citizens by birth.
