ПрохоровъVolume 1 treats the pre-history through the 12th century and contains lithographs throughout illustrating the substantial textual commentary by V. Prokhorov about Scythian designs found on metalwork and vases and Rusian jewelry and clothing. Volumes 2-3 were compiled after his death by his son and have generally less textual commentary with subtantial plates, mostly chromolithographs. Volume 2 covers mostly clothing, weaponry and jewelry form the time of Vladimir Monomakh to the 17th century. Volume 3 focuses primarily on furniture and domestic decorative arts for the elite. Volume 4 contains a substantial textual introduction by N. Sultanov focusing primarily on interior and exterior architectural details.
