Marshall, Stewart M."The papyrus fragments are apparently from "cartonnage," the wrappings of mummies. Discarded manuscripts and contents of waste baskets and waste dumps were used regardless of the contents of the pages. These were wrapped around the body and glued in place. The final surface was usually decorated by painting and some of these fragments show color." [From donor's letter.]
