    Plaks, Arved

    This cardboard box belonged to Arved Plaks, who used it to hold his leather tools, such as pliers and a silet, a tiny, knife-shaped piece of metal. The top of the box has a pencil-colored writing "Leatherwork tools". Arved fleed from Estonia in 1944 and stayed in Geislingen in Germany during the second half of the 1940s. While being there, he studied woodwork and leatherwork. In 1949 he and his family emigrated to the United States, where he became a recognized technical scientist.
