It details the fates of many sailing ships, cruisers, frigates, cutters, destroyers, minesweepers and patrol boats that helped defend America's shores over the last two centuries.The authors are both very experienced divers who have combined their knowledge of more than 40 reachable warship wrecks on America's East Coast with detailed historical research to accurately tell the story with hundreds of photos facts and figures. Some of the wrecks are within easy reach of the sport diver, while others are far more challenging and some are still to be located. With this is mind, the book examines 50 more wrecks and lists many others awaiting discovery. Famous shipwrecks like the San Diego and Wilkes Barre are covered in detail and illustrated with many photos of the wrecks and the ships in service.
