Wind turbines : types, design, and efficiency
Hauppauge, New York : Nova Science Publishers, Inc., [2013]In this book, the authors present topical research in the study of the types, design and efficiency of wind turbines. Topics discussed include modelling ice accretion and its effects on wind turbine blades; the challenges and possible solutions towards public acceptability of horizontal axis wind turbines as a clean energy solution for the future; optimizing high-rise facade-integrated wind rotors; and wind energy extraction and storage by a modified VAWT.In this book, the authors present topical research in the study of the types, design and efficiency of wind turbines. Wind turbines : types, economics and development
New York : Nova Science Publishers, Inc., [2010]A wind turbine is a rotating machine which converts the kinetic energy in wind into mechanical energy. World-wide interest in renewable energy systems such as wind turbines has increased dramatically, due to environmental concerns like climate change and other factors. Wind power is a major source of sustainable energy, and can be harvested using both horizontal and vertical axis wind turbines. This book addresses wind turbines and provides theoretical background and rationale for these developments. The required guidelines to make wind farms environmentally friendly are addressed, as well as the impact that wind turbines may have on benthic biomass and diversity. Ideas about future developments of wind turbines are also reviewed in this book.

Wind turbines [electronic resource].
Oak Ridge, Tenn. : Oak Ridge National Laboratory. ; Oak Ridge, Tenn. : distributed by the Office of Scientific and Technical Information, U.S. Dept. of Energy, 1978This evaluation of wind turbines is part of a series of Technology Evaluations of possible components and subsystems of community energy systems. Wind turbines, ranging in size from 200 W to 10 MW, are discussed as candidates for prime movers in community systems. Estimates of performance characteristics and cost as a function of rated capacity and rated wind speed are presented. Data concerning material requirements, environmental effects, and operating procedures also are given and are represented empirically to aid computer simulation.
