BecheuFrance. The materials consist of twenty octavo volumes, bound more or less identically in 1/4 green leather and green paper covered boards. There are also small shelf labels on each spine, apparently from the author's own library. These volumes comprise the record of Bechue's intellectual life in France during the Bourbon Restoration through the July Revolution and beyond. They contain notes and commentary on French history and literature, the French Revolution, constitutional issues, Napoleon, Lafayette and the Revolution of 1830, and more. There are extensive notes and commentary on his wide ranging reading, which cut across many subjects, topics, and format: books, periodicals, and newspapers, etc. There are also economic and commercial statistics.
