The Art & Architecture Library provides reserves—books, DVDs, course readers, photocopies—for courses taught by the Department of Art & Art History as well as other departments across campus. Details about items currently on reserve at the Art Library can be found in the Stanford University Libraries' Reserves Catalog.
Checking out a reserve item
To check out a reserve item, present your current ID and give the name of your course instructor and the item's call number to the circulation desk attendant. There is a limit of two books per reader at any given time. Reserve materials generally circulate for two hours and may be taken out of the Art Library. Most materials circulate overnight and are due one hour after opening the following day.
Creating a course reserve
To place items on reserve (instructors and TAs only), please complete and submit the online Reserves Form at least three weeks before the beginning of each quarter's classes. While some items may already be in the Art Library, others may need to be recalled or purchased. Although we cannot make photocopies ourselves, we would be more than happy to put copyright-cleared photocopies on reserve. When adding additional material to your reserves, please allow 7-10 days processing time before it becomes available for use. Please contact Lorna Corbetta (email@example.com) for assistance.
Image study sets
Each quarter, the Visual Resources Center places images online for students to use while studying for exams for select courses. These study sets are organized by department in our ImageBase. Please contact VRC staff for more information.
