The Stanford University Archives is pleased to announce it will be hosting members of the campus community to view materials from Special Collections and University Archives in commemoration of Black History Month. Materials can be viewed in the Barchas Room of Green Library this Friday, February 21, 2014, from 11 AM - 1 PM.
The materials on view will trace the development of the black student community at Stanford, including campus demonstrations, held in the context of the Civil Rights Movement and the Black Power Movement, that led to the university's developing the infrastructure to more rigorously support minority student enrollment and learning, faculty appointment, and a black studies curriculum.
