New shelving in ARS

April 5, 2017
Archive shelving

At long last, the Archive of Recorded Sound will receive some much-needed new shelving, and the installation work will begin this summer with preparatory shifting of archival materials beginning on May 1st.  During the summer and fall much of the old shelving will be removed and new shelving will be installed.  The project is scheduled for completion in December.

Throughout the summer and fall many of the sound recordings that are housed in the Archive will not be accessible; however, we will try to accommodate requests for these materials whenever it is possible for us to do so.  We apologize for interruptions in our service that this project may cause, but we are also looking forward to providing a much improved storage space for these important historic recordings.
