Washington Post online now available to Stanford

Stanford Libraries provides access to the WaPo.com! A major first in access to current events and news. No individual subscription needed.

All Stanford affiliates with a valid SUNet ID can now access https://www.washingtonpost.com/.  Coverage is from 1977 up to latest breaking news.

The Stanford Libraries subscribe to many historical, current print and digital news sources and newspapers via Factiva, LexisNexis/Nexis Uni, ProQuest Global Newstream, Access World News from Newsbank/ReadexAccess to current news through these platforms is often text only. It has been a challenge for libraries, including the Stanford Libraries, to provide our patrons with campus-wide subscriptions to online news coverage from key national newspapers, without requiring individual subscriptions. Until now.

Go to the SearchWorks record, then click on the “E-Journal Subscription” link in order to access our subscription. Alternatively, you can connect by going directly to https://www.washingtonpost.com/, as long as you are already registered on the Stanford campus wifi network. To access the Washington Post from off-campus, make sure you have configured your browsers according to the Connecting to e-Resources instructions. For any problems with your access, please notify us using the Report a Connection Problem link.

No web scraping of the live website is allowed under our license. If you are interested in text and data mining of this content, please contact Josh Quan to discuss your project.

NOTE: Once you authenticate using your SUNet ID, there is no need to create an individual sign-on and no need to pay anything extra for access.  Access is optimized for web browsers ONLY on computers or mobile devices, not via the WaPo mobile app.
