Cover of Crown : an ode to the fresh cut

Recently, best-selling author of young adult books Nic Stone emphasized the importance of people reading more than just books about racism, we should also read stories about black people living. In School Library Journal Vanessa Willoughby makes the point that “There is danger in a single story: Rich, multifaceted cultures, communities, and individuals are flattened into a monolith.” Joy can be a radical act, a reclamation of autonomy. Both Ms. Stone and Ms. Willoughby include lists of potential titles to read. Cubberley Education Library has several of the children and young adult titles on these lists. Note: You can now page our books to Green library.
