The Robin Li and Melissa Ma Science Library offers broad coverage of life sciences in a collection of books, journals, ebooks, ejournals, and databases. The collection is particularly strong in cellular and molecular biology, developmental biology, neuroscience, ecology, and evolutionary biology.
Books and journals
Use SearchWorks to find books and journals held by the libraries at Stanford or available online to the Stanford community. In some cases, license agreements for electronic resources restrict access to current Stanford students, faculty, and staff.
Journal articles
Journal articles can be found through databases. The libraries subscribe to a number of databases including BIOSIS Citation Index, Zoological Record, CAB Abstracts, and Web of Science Core Collection. PubMed, free to all, is a major resource for biomedical sciences. In some databases, you can create alerts that notify you when new articles of interest are published. For older articles, use SearchWorks to find Biological Abstracts, Biological Abstracts/RRM, and other printed indexes held by the libraries at Stanford.
Reference resources
Encyclopedias, dictionaries, and other reference works are available online, and a few are available in print. Find reference works through SearchWorks or browse the reference collection in the library.
Molecular biology data resources
The library provides access to Transfac, MetaCore, and other molecular biology data resources, and these can be found through SearchWorks. Additional resources are available through Stanford’s Computational Services and Bioinformatics Facility.
