Metadata Services

Metadata Services creates, enhances, remediates, and transforms descriptive and discovery metadata in multiple schemas to provide discovery and access to library resources in SearchWorks (including the Stanford Digital Repository), through the integrated work of four units:

Metadata Creation

Classification

E-resources Control

Data Control

Organizational Chart (restricted access)

We also provide metadata consultation services and training throughout the libraries and to the university community at large. Many of our local standards and procedures for metadata creation in the MARC and MODS environments are provided here as a service to metadata librarians in other institutions. Stanford-only administrative procedures and restricted links are available on our intranet (Consul, restricted access). Please contact us for further information.
