Tabletop Tuesdays: Dealing with Sabacc at Hohbach Hall
As a belated May the Fourth Be With You celebration, join us for an exploration of the games associated with the Star Wars universe, including sabacc, that most notorious of galactic card games played by smugglers and pirates. First introduced in an early draft of the Empire Strikes Back script, sabacc is the method by which Han Solo won his iconic ship the Millennium Falcon from Lando Calrissian. There are numerous fan versions of the rules for playing sabacc and it has been mentioned for many years in the Star Wars novels. However, the first official on-screen game was shown in the movie Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)—the same year that the name “sabacc” was trademarked by Lucasfilm.
